Five Hottest British Actresses

There is something undeniably irresistible about hot British actresses. Sure, part of it is the accent, no doubt. It is a real turn-on. But there is something else that makes guys fantasize about these beauties. In interviews, most seem so prim and proper that it makes you suspect that there might be a bit of a freak inside there; a part that you would love to bring out.
That is the dream, at least. British actresses have been coming across the pond even more in recent years and many times you would not even know that a favorite new actress of yours is a Brit until you end up hearing her interviewed on a late night talk show.

Kate Beckinsale – Kate is at the top of the list and she has been for some time. Although she is approaching the big four-O, Becks is as hot as ever. She is kind of like the British Jennifer Connelly; she is a woman who has kept her natural beauty intact over the years. Her mainstream American exposure came as Josh Hartnett and Ben Affleck's love interest in the 2001's "Pearl Harbor.” Her sexiest role was as the sexy vampire warrior Selene in the first two “Underworld” films – a role she is set to reprise in 2012's “Underworld Awakening.” Her skin-tight, black latex/spandex/something-ex costume from “Underworld” shows off one of her best features – her terrific bum. Kate will also be starring as bad girl Lori in the “Total Recall” remake next year.

Keira Knightley – Keira has not been around forever, it just seems that way. She is still a mere lass of 26 and is a very accomplished actress. She burst upon the scene as damsel in distress Elizabeth Swann in 2003's “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” It turns out Keira could more than take care of herself as she wielded her sword, her wit and her incredible hotness in increasingly skimpy outfits through the first three “Pirates” films. She played sexy bounty hunter Domino Harvey in 2005's “Domino,” and has several films coming out in the next year. Keira is a straight-up fox who should be steaming up the big screen for many years to come.

Hayley Atwell – If you want humps and lovely lady lumps, Hayley's got them. This curvacious Brit has a body that just will not quit. She caught American eyes as Agent Peggy Carter in “Captain America: The First Avenger.” This beautifully well-endowed Brit is an actress you just can not take your eyes off of and seems destined to head straight to the top of A-list actresses.

Gemma Arterton – This 25-year-old bombshell got her big break as new Bond girl Strawberry Fields in 2008's “Quantum of Solace.” She followed that up with two hit films in 2010 when she appeared in “Clash of the Titans” and “Prince of Persia,” both of which allowed her to showcase her sexy assets in nicely revealing costumes. She also got erotic in “The Disappearance of Alice Creed” that same year as she had some fairly graphic nude scenes. This daughter of a maid and a welder who grew up in public housing in England has really made it big.

Emma Watson – Little Hermione sure has grown up. At  21 years old, Emma has spent half of her life playing the cute know-it-all sidekick to Harry Potter in all eight Potter films. With the Potter series over, Emma is moving her career into more adult-oriented films. She will appear in “My Week With Marilyn” at the end of this year and will star in the film adaptation of “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” in 2012. The young hottie also models and is a student at Brown University (currently taking a break).

Katy Perry has beaten Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus to “Grease” remake role

Katy Perry has beaten Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus and Amanda Seyfried in a public vote for the best stars to cast in a remake of the classic 1978 movie, Grease.

Perry and Zac Efron are the people’s choice to succeed Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, who played Rydell High sweethearts, Sandy and Danny, in the original film of the 1950s throwback musical.

Such is the conclusion of an online poll, conducted by YouGov on behalf of Sing-a-long-a Grease (http://www.singalonga.net), which will tour both Canada and the UK during 2012, to mark the 40th anniversary of the original New York stage version of Grease in 1972.

We've seen recent remakes of both Fame and Footloose, two other Hollywood teen musicals of similar vintage to Grease, while a planned remake of Dirty Dancing has just been announced. Is Grease next?

"Justin Bieber revealed recently that the job he most wanted was the lead role of Danny in a remake of Grease, with Miley Cyrus as Sandy”, says Ben Freedman, producer of Sing-a-longa Grease. “But we wanted to know who the public wanted."

The answer is definitely not a pairing of Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, which ranked just seventh when YouGov offered respondents the chance to pick it from a list of 10 celebrity pairs to play Sandy and Danny.

In fact, Cyrus polled far better when paired with Zac Efron, star of the High School Musical films, coming then in joint third position.

No less than four of the 10 pairs suggested in the poll featured Efron as Danny – and they promptly bagged the top four places, making Efron the clear choice to play Danny.

The pairing of Efron and Katy Perry, however, pipped the combination of Efron and Harry Potter star Emma Watson as the best pair to play Sandy and Danny. Then came Efron and Cyrus, Efron and Mama Mia’s Amanda Seyfried, and singer Taylor Swift with Twilight star, Robert Pattinson.

"Emma Watson has the same innocent, girl-next-door quality as Olivia Newton-John did in the original", says Freedman. "But the people now seem to prefer someone brasher and sexier, like Katy Perry."

Efron, the poster-boy for tweenyboppers, also has a more wholesome image than Perry. This would mean a kind of sexual role-reversal from the original movie, where Travolta's Danny was the bad boy and Newton-John’s Sandy the good girl.

"Maybe this reversal is a sign of the times and social change", says Freedman.

Then again, it could be just that Perry, like Newton-John but unlike Watson, is known primarily as a singer.

Efron, 24, is the same age as Travolta was when the original Grease movie came out in 1978. Perry, 27, is older than Olivia Newton-John was when she played Sandy at the age of 20. But then some of the actors playing High School kids in the original movie were in their thirties, which didn’t seem to matter.

Both Katy Perry and Zac Efron are natives of California, where the original movie was shot, though Perry now has a British connection through marriage to Brand.

Which pair would you cast to star in a modern remake of Grease?

Lindsay Lohan N*de Photos Leaked. Are they Fake?

Lindsay Lohan just can't get a break these days with every single thing involving her ending up in the media spotlight. She rarely works and seems to be more known for being in trouble or being the butt-end of some kind of joke. It's sad, but that's entertainment, ladies and gents.

It seems you're never really famous until there's a sex tape, nip-slip or some other major issue these days, and Lindsay Lohan is now the latest victim of that whole genre of exploitation. She only just finished her Playboy shoot, after saying for years that she'd never pose nude or do any nude scenes. Now, some interesting imagery of LiLo has surfaced online by a man who says she let him photograph her nude five years ago!

The photographer, Harvey Edwards, claims that the troubled starlet allowed him to photograph her nude on a motorcycle. However, these photos are not showing LiLo's face. Nonetheless, the body in these three shows, which can be seen here, do kind of look a bit like Lindsay's body before she turned into Hollywood's favorite barfly. Now it's a little frumpy and plasticky, frequently covered in bruises (because drunk girls do tend to bump into things a lot).

Are the n*de pics of Lindsay Lohan real?

Apparently they're not, according to Lindsay's "people." But hey, that wouldn't be the first time a rep for a celeb denied things that were true to save-face. Keep in mind that these are the same people who try to say she was complying with her probation before she was taken in for a "failure to comply."

Whether they're real or not, and sources say they're not, it doesn't really matter. And this Harvey Edwards guy just got himself a small dose of fame at least; even if it did mean riding on the coat tails of an impending train-wreck.

Nandana Sen gets hate mails for ‘Rang Rasiya’ n*de scenes

Indian actress Nandana Sen is receiving hate mails over her nude scenes in the 2008 Hindi movie ‘Rang Rasiya’.

In the movie, Nandana played the role of a muse of a painter Raja Ravi Verma, played by Randeep Hooda.

Sen explained that nudity can be portrayed in a dignified way. The actress defended that the way the woman’s body has been portrayed in the movie depicts the power of the women.

The actress argued that if Hollywood actress Kate Winslet does a nude scene then there are no problems, but if the same thing is done in India then it becomes an issue.

Sen who had portrayed the role of Sugandha Bai, told reporters that without knowing what the film was all about, she received hate mails for some of the nude scenes in the movie.

Nandana has also worked in Bollywood in many of the films like ‘Black’ in which she had played the role of Rani Mukherji’s sister.

Jessica Biel Ready To Get cloths off for ‘Amazing Opportunity'

Jessica Biel is not afraid to undress in front of a camera and says that ‘If a director I trusted came to me with an amazing opportunity and it felt organic, I would do it.’
This brave statement from Justin Timberlake’s on-again-off-again girlfriend comes despite Jessica’s upsetting experience with her last nude exposure in the failure of a film, ‘Powder Blue.’

In a revealing interview reported by The Daily Mail, Biel, 29, said that said it was ‘brutal’ to see her naked body plastered all over the Internet in the clip from the movie.  She played a stripper trying to earn money to raise her terminally ill son in the film – which went straight to DVD.

‘It’s unfortunate,’ she said.  ‘It was brutal for a while. There was so much more that we put into it.’

But despite the embarrassment Biel says she might go naked again.

Despite her glitzy lifestyle and heartthrob on again, off again boyfriend Justin Timberlake, Biel said that she still feels lonely ‘all the time’.

Jessica also dropped her clothes in films such as “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry,” though she was still underwear-clad in the scene. One still gets the feeling that getting naked on film these days is something that many Hollywood stars feel is beneath them. Not Jessica.

Dressless photo of Kate Moss goes on sale for £18k

If you’ve got a spare £18,000 burning a hole in your back pocket (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?!) then we may have found the perfect thing for you to spend it on – a nude photo of Kate Moss!

Taken by Albert Watson back in 1993, the iconic black and white image is deemed one of the ‘best ever photos’ taken of the supermodel and it’s going under the hammer at Bonhams auction house on 17th November.

On the other hand, if you barely have £18 to your name right now, you’ll have to make do with these pictures of Kate strolling through London yesterday after lunch with her hubby at Inaho Japanese restaurant.

Hollywood newcomer Elizabeth Olsen: 'Kate Winslet inspired me to cloths off'

The Hollywood newcomer, who is the younger sister of actress twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, was terrified about shooting naked scenes for new movie Martha Marcy May Marlene.

But after seeing Winslet appear completely nude in 1999 movie Holy Smoke, the 22 year old admits she felt inspired to shed her clothes for the drama, in which she plays a young woman who flees from a cult.

She explains, "(Martha Marcy May Marlene is) only my second film, I got nervous. 'Wait, does this set a precedent for me? Are people going to think I'm just game for that?' Because I'm not. When it's sensationalised or gratuitous, I have no interest in it. But for this movie, it's so a part of the nature theme that's explored and the loss of identity...

"Kate Winslet in that film (Holy Smoke) has much more difficult, physically vulnerable scenes than I did in this movie and it was so impactful. And I was thinking, 'Look at her career now. She's not pigeonholed, it just is the story.' And that was a lesson to learn, to look up to her career as something that's pretty ideal in my mind... That gave me a type of courage of being like, 'I'm going to support the movie, this tells the story better, this is important for the story and that's that.'"

Happy 27th Birthday, Scarlett Johansson!

Scarlett Johansson has been in the news recently for all the right reasons, at least according to millions of warm-blooded men: naked pictures of the actress hit the Internet in September.

But that hacking scandal is now behind the star, who can relax and celebrate a milestone today: Johansson turns 27!

Since splitting from husband Ryan Reynolds, Scarlett has been romantically linked to almost every single man in Hollywood, from Sean Penn to, most recently, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She'll next appear alongside Matt Damon in We Bought a Zoo and, no, these two are not dating. The latter is happily married.

Scarlett Johansson appeal 'attractive woman' to strip n*ked on set of new film

Scarlett Johansson is looking for an "alluring woman" who she can strip naked in her new movie.

The sexy star has been filming scenes for sci-fi film Under The Skin around Scotland.

Now, producers have advertised for an actress to play a character whose clothes are removed by Scarlett's alien predator Laura in an opening scene of the flick.

Scots casting director Kathleen Crawford's web ad for the part of "Bridge Woman" - an alien trapped inside a human body - says: "We need to cast a woman with an uncanny ability to convey emotion through only her eyes. Extremely alluring woman, attractive, intriguing."

It adds: "This role requires nudity."

Meanwhile, Scarlett stunned punters by popping into Glasgow Mexican restaurant Pinata for a s15 takeaway of king prawns.

Boss Ella Coyle said: "Our customers couldn't believe it."

Selena Gomez Little Sister Taylor Swift Never Had?

Giving her best friend, Selena Gomez, the ultimate compliment during her acceptance speech at the American Music Awards, Taylor Swift calls Selena, "...the little sister I never had."
What a super sweet thing to say to the whole world about your BFF!

Taylor Swift, 21, had to be feeling quite giddy after winning Artist of the Year. Sitting by Gomez, 19, throughout the show, the two friends are clearly close. Do they truly think of each other as sisters?

With all the things that must have been going on in her mind while standing up on the stage at that exciting moment, it was really meaningful for Taylor Swift to bring up her friend, Selena Gomez, who is going through quite a bit in her personal life right now with stalker stress and boyfriend baby scandals. Surely, Swift's kind words gave Gomez comfort during this time.

By saying, "I love you, Selena...", during what may be the one of the most heard and most important speeches of her young life, Taylor Swift told the world just how close she and Selena Gomez really aresister close.

a white vintage Rolls Royce and 1920's style Justin and Selena Gomez

Despite dressing up in outfits that were years beyond their ages they managed to pull it off.

Teen lovers Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were the surprise highlight of the red carpet at the 2011 American Music Awards on Sunday night.

The pair wowed the crowds as they arrived and departed the event in a white vintage Rolls Royce.

Dressed as if they had just walked off the set of Bugsy Malone, the sweethearts channeled Hollywood's most glamorous era as they hit the red carpet at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles..

Justin was a real dapper gent and wore a black tuxedo with a bow tie. The 17-year-old sported a new slicked back hairstyle to complete his 1920s look.

Pop princess Selena wore a metallic Giorgio Armani gown that was low cut and featured a thigh high slit. Her champagne satin dress was elegant but the backless feature added some spice to the outfit. With her hair in loose curls Gomez and Justin looked mature and classy in their vintage gear.

Selena, 19, and Justin couldn't keep their hands off each other and the pint sized Canadian was constantly seen kissing his beau. Justin also helped his girlfriend negotiate the red carpet as her gown was so long she kept stepping on it.

The long gown got special attention from singer Taylor Swift who took the time to give the gold Armani number a closer look. The recent paternity allegations didn't appear to have dampened the love between the two as they put on several public displays of affection.

Bieber took to the stage at the awards show and performed his Christmas hit Mistletoe. He was introduced by his best friend and collaborator Sean Kingston before lighting the stage with a smoke filled set.

Dressed in all white, the singer walked from side to side of the stage lighting a string of lights. Justin had tweeted earlier in the week about his excitement at performing Sunday night.

He said: 'AMA blocking rehearsal. @dankanter is here. sounds like fun.'

Dan Kanter, who is Justin's musical director, also tweeted: 'AMA rehearsal. JB is killing it! Just wait until you all see him tomorrow night!!!' As the crowd screamed, Bieber bounced on to stage and shuffled dressed in a pair of LMFAO's trademark Zubaz pants.

Wearing the yellow trousers and a sleeveless shirt with Sexy written on it the teen sensation did his dance and then ran off stage. At the end of the night Selena and Justin jumped back into their vintage Rolls Royce and a tired looking Gomez rested her head on Justin's shoulder.

The Baby Baby singer gave his girlfriend his tuxedo jacket to wear as she started to feel the cold and the pair were chauffeur driven back to their hotel.

Justin Bieber Brings Christmas Spirit To 2011 AMAs

Holiday cheer filled the 2011 American Music Awards on Sunday night (November 20) when Justin Bieber took to the stage to perform his festive hit "Mistletoe," from his chart-topping Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe.

Presented by friend and collaborator Sean Kingston, the Biebster began the song atop a high platform as smoke spread below his feet. In an all-white ensemble, the singer strolled from each side of the platform, igniting a string of neon lights. As he crooned his way through the Messenger-produced song, Bieber walked onto lower platforms before making his way onto the main stage.

And it wasn't just JB who lit up with arena, but also the audience. Cameras panned to shots of attendees waving glow sticks.

Bieber took to Twitter over the weekend to hype up his AMA performance, writing, "AMA blocking rehearsal. @dankanter is here. sounds like fun." Kanter, his musical director, echoed similar sentiments about the star's set. "AMA rehearsal. JB is killing it! Just wait until you all see him tomorrow night!!!" he tweeted.

JB has many more stuffers left in his stocking, including appearances on NBC's Christmas tree lighting November 30 and TNT's annual "Christmas in Washington" TV special December 11.

Ashton Kutcher Pre-Split: What I Don't Like in a Woman

Ashton Kutcher is a take-me-as-I-am kind of guy.

The Two and a Half Men star, 33, hasn't openly discussed the reasons behind his split from Demi Moore, but he has addressed what turns him away from a relationship.

"I could never be with a woman who felt like she needed to change me," the actor – who reportedly cheated on his wife of six years – tells Men's Health in its December issue.

But that doesn't mean he's opposed to compromise.

"I think it's about working on the relationship and making it better … when it's good," he says in the interview, which he gave before the split. "The goal is not to get into a relationship; the goal is to be in a relationship."

Not to mention keeping that relationship intact.

"I'm relatively scared of failure," he admits. "I just don't see it as something that's inevitable."

'Twilight': Kristen Stewart's extreme 'Twilight' transformation

The fans who lined up over the weekend to see "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1" — and there were a lot of them, considering that the fourth installment in the franchise adapted from Stephenie Meyer's bestselling young-adult novels
raked in an estimated $139.5 million — witnessed some pretty radical upheaval in the lives of young Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and her vampire beau Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).

The couple marries, and during a romantic honeymoon getaway, they finally consummate their relationship. But Bella unexpectedly becomes pregnant and fights to carry the child to term, though the fetus is seemingly incompatible with her body.

To depict the great physical toll the pregnancy takes on Bella's body — she's unable to eat and essentially is withering away as her stomach swells — the "Breaking Dawn" filmmakers looked to Lola Visual Effects, the company responsible for downsizing muscular Chris Evans to a pre-transformation weakling in this summer's comic book superhero film "Captain America." The results are certainly eyebrow-raising, with Bella becoming increasingly pale and extremely gaunt.

"The idea was to leave you with a question mark about how they did it," said the film's director, Bill Condon. "We wanted you to think it was possible that Kristen actually lost a lot of weight for it."

The visual-effects team added prosthetics to Stewart's face (a process that took three hours of application) to make her eyes look more sunken and her ears larger. Stewart likened wearing the prosthetics to having a "big, skinny head" for the scenes. Still, the 21-year old actress was game for the transformation.

"I'm so happy that they were not afraid of it — to have your main character look so awful for half of the movie is a bold choice for a huge film," Stewart said. "It was the one thing I wasn't fully responsible for concerning Bella and it made me really nervous. I didn't know what it would look like until I saw the movie."

Mila Kunis keeps her date with Afghanistan vet

Mila Kunis made a Marine's YouTube wish come true on Friday night, when the actress kept her promise to be his date at the Marine Corps Ball in Greenville, North Carolina.

Kunis attended the event at the Greenville Convention Center with Sergeant Scott Moore, Access Hollywood reported. The event was closed to media.

Moore invited Kunis to the soiree in a YouTube video posted in July, from a base in Afghanistan.

"Hey, Mila. It's Sergeant Moore, but you can call me Scott," he said in the video. "I just wanted to take a moment out of my day to invite you to the Marine Corps Ball on November 18 in Greenville, North Carolina, with yours truly. So take a second, think about it and get back to me."

A message left with Kunis's publicist in New York was not returned on Sunday.

Their date took place less than a week after Kunis' "Friends with Benefits" co-star, Justin Timberlake, escorted a Marine Corps combat instructor to a ball in Richmond, Virginia.

Timberlake, who publicly encouraged Kunis to accept Moore's invitation, received a similar proposal soon afterward from Corporal Kelsey De Santis. On his website, the singer-turned actor called the November 12 Marine Corps Ball he attended with De Santis "one of the most moving evenings" of his life.

Twilight Saga:‘Breaking Dawn’ Kristen Stewart ‘All Close-Ups’ S*x Scenes

There has been much hype surrounding Bella and Edward’s sex scene in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” – but series star Kristen Stewart says it’s not as graphic as many are hoping it will be.

“I think, for me, it really reflects what I felt when I was reading the book,” she recently told MTV News. “It’s funny, because it’s not in the book. It’s totally just what you imagine in between those chapters, but without it, because you imagine it, it leads you to — it picks up right after, and then sort of really indulges in memory. And so I think that’s how you see it.”

So what will Twi-hards actually see Kristen and co-star Robert Pattison doing on the big screen when the next installment of “The Twilight Saga” opens next week?

“It’s not a beginning-to-end sex scene; it’s memories, it’s nice,” she explained. “So because of that, I never really got to shoot, we didn’t shoot a sex scene. It was all close-ups and such.”

During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Thursday, the late night host asked Kristen about the much-talked-about scene.

“Somebody came in and put a stop to all the thrusting?” Jimmy said with a laugh, referring to Kristen and Robert shooting the scene.

“He’s the thruster, obviously,” she said of Robert. “Not me.”

Kirsten Dunst opens up everything (Including dress)

Kirsten Dunst decided to seek help for her depression and came out a better person.

While promoting her new movie Melancholia on The Ellen Show, Kirsten Dunst opened up for the first time about her own experiences with depression.

“There’s no way to bring it up without saying what it is – you suffered from depression,” began Ellen Degeneres.

While Dunst shared that she’s not comfortable talking about her personal battle, she admitted that her depression and time spent in rehab back in 2008 was due to the pressures of fame. “I dealt with it. Yeah. That and it's also interesting as an actress you're supposed to be sensitive and vulnerable and have this side to you. But then your supposed to be super sociable and 'on' and like nice to everybody. That's a weird dichotomy. It's a lot to ask of a person. It's not a normal thing."

The actress has been acting since the age of 10 and growing up in the spotlight took a toll on her. So much so that she checked herself into the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah to start over. "I definitely took a little bit of a break. And also, when you're in your 20s you need figure things out and take a step back. I had been acting so long, all my life. I think I just needed a little bit of some perspective. It was good for me and it re-inspired what I do, too."

According to Gather, Dunst is taking precautions to make sure that while she is back in the limelight she doesn’t spiral downward, including staying away from Hollywood parties. “I avoid the red carpet as much as possible. You have to do it to promote your movies obviously, but you won’t see me at an event just for the sake of it.”

Box Office No.1 'Immortals'

"Immortals" fought off the competition at the box office this weekend, emerging victorious with the No. 1 title.

The film, an expensive 3-D sword-and-sandals epic, claimed the top spot with a solid $32 million, according to an estimate from distributor Relativity Media. That was enough to fend off Adam Sandler's cross-dressing comedy "Jack and Jill," which took in a decent $26 million. The Clint Eastwood-directed "J. Edgar" biopic, meanwhile, collected a modest $11.5 million.

"Immortals" marks Relativity's biggest self-released opening ever. That's welcome news for the independent studio, many of whose films -- including "Machine Gun Preacher" and "Take Me Home Tonight" -- have failed to resonate with audiences in recent months. The company made a big bet on "Immortals," spending about $80 million to produce the Tarsem Singh-directed picture and at least $50 million more to market it.

The audience for "Immortals" was composed largely of young males, a demographic that has proved difficult to lure into theaters in recent months. About 66% of the audience -- 75% of which was younger than 35, and 60% of which was male -- opted to shell out a few extra bucks to watch the movie in 3-D. The film attracted a diverse crowd, as roughly 35% of the audience was Hispanic. Moviegoers assigned "Immortals" an average grade of B, according to market research firm CinemaScore -- the same score that both "Jack and Jill" and "J. Edgar" received this weekend.

"Immortals," set in ancient Greece and starring future "Superman" Henry Cavill, was produced by the filmmakers behind the 2006 blockbuster "300."

"Immortals" will fail to generate the kind of revenues that film did, however," as "300" ended up raking in more than $450 million worldwide. This weekend, "Immortals" opened internationally in 35 foreign markets, collecting an estimated $36 million. The film performed especially well in the United Kingdom, Russia and Greece, claiming the No. 1 spot in each country. Relativity is not self-releasing the film overseas, however -- the company presold the film to a number of foreign distributors, minimizing the upside if "Immortals" is successful abroad.

"Jack and Jill" is one of the lowest debuts Sandler has had with a broad commercial comedy. In the last decade, most of the actor's similarly themed films have started off with between $30 million and $40 million. The opening for "Jack and Jill" is only slightly higher than that of 2009's "Funny People," the Judd Apatow-directed comedy about cancer that premiered with about $22 million.

Sony Pictures spent about $79 million to make "Jack and Jill," which appealed to a 53% family audience this weekend. While Sandler's films typically maintain strong holds at the box office, a number of kid-centric pictures are opening around Thanksgiving and will present some serious competition.

The film could make up some ground overseas, where Sandler's big comedies have crossed the $100-million milestone in recent years. The movie -- which received a dismal 3% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes -- grossed $2.7 million from Mexico and Colombia this weekend.

Eastwood's film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio as late FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, appealed largely to an older crowd this weekend. About 66% of those who saw the picture were older than 50.

While "J. Edgar" earned the best reviews of any new film released this weekend, critics did not like it nearly as much as some of Eastwood's other recent movies. In an effort to spread positive word-of-mouth about the picture, Warner Bros. released the movie in seven theaters on Wednesday. Including those midweek grosses, the film has now made $11.6 million.

"J. Edgar," which was produced for about $35 million, opened to slightly less than Eastwood's last film, "Hereafter." That movie also earned middling reviews, debuting last year with $12 million and ultimately collecting $32.7 million domestically. The film did far better abroad, however, where it grossed $72.5 million. It remains to be seen how "J. Edgar" -- which has far more American themes than the supernatural "Hereafter" -- will fare internationally.

[Updated at 12:57 p.m. Nov. 13: Is Justin Timberlake the latest Hollywood star to hold surprising clout overseas? The singer-turned-actor is hardly Johnny Depp, but his last few films have done better abroad than domestically. "In Time," his sci-fi action flick released in the U.S. three weeks ago, has already collected $53.7 million abroad compared to its $30.7-million stateside tally. The Andrew Niccol-directed movie is currently playing in 53 foreign countries and has performed best in Russia, where it has grossed $13.2 million. The film, which also stars Amanda Seyfried, has yet to open in a number of major international markets, including France and Japan.

The last film in which the actor had a major role, July's romantic comedy "Friends With Benefits," also did well abroad. The movie costarring Mila Kunis made $93.7 million of its $149.5 million global total internationally. Even "Bad Teacher" -- the raunchy summer comedy in which he had a supporting role -- and last year's "Yogi Bear" -- in which he voiced the animated sidekick Boo Boo -- sold slightly more ticket sales in foreign countries than in the U.S.
