Angelina Jolie - Jewelry Designer

If you thought Angelina Jolie has shown the world all of her talents - think again. Jolie, along with her husband Brad Pitt have been working on designing a new line of jewelry for Asprey, a high-end British company. The two stars were working on this line for about a year and it was released into stores just in time for the Christmas rush.

The entire line is designed around a snake icon. This reptile has been very popular in the fashion world as of late and Jolie's designs are no exception. The concept was created entirely by Jolie and Pitt as she believes the snake is a protector of her family - thus the jewelry line is named "The Protector". Snakes as a symbol of power and protection is nothing new. Snakes have been used as protectors of temples and other sacred places for thousands of years. The snake is a popular symbol in Buddhism, relating to the story of a snake that protects Buddha during meditation.

Many of the pieces in Jolie's new line features a snake wrapped into a knot. There are rings, pendants and earrings featuring the snake in this shape. This in itself is symbolic as well. A knot has long been known to symbolize permanence, longevity and commitment. Used in conjunction with a snake, the wearer shows a long-term commitment to protecting that which is important to them. It is a powerful symbol sure to catch on quickly. Jolie is no stranger to symbols and Buddhism. She has been a long time advocate of symbols like knots and snakes - look at her tattoos.

"The Protector" line of jewelry features necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets and even a silver baby spoon all with the snake motif. All of the pieces are made with either gold or silver and feature white diamonds and other colorful gemstones like onyx and emeralds. This will be a luxury line of jewelry so most likely it will be out of the price range for most normal folks. The silver baby spoon has a handle shaped like a serpent and starts at $525. The great thing about this jewelry line is that the proceeds will go to charity. All of the proceeds from "The Protector" line will benefit Jolie's Education Partnership for Children of Conflict charity. It may be difficult to get your hands on this jewelry not only because of the price but also because it will only be available in Asprey stores in New York, London, Beverly Hills, Tokyo and Dubai.
